COLIN SCHOONOVER

Colin Schoonover serves as a technologist in his role as Manager of Engineering Services and Pipeline Systems as part of the Asset Management and Engineering group at ONE Gas in Tulsa, Oklahoma. ONE Gas is a regulated natural gas distribution company based in Tulsa with operations in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas serving 2 million customers.

He also serves as a member to the board of directors for the non-profit Oklahoma Business Ethics Foundation as part of the Oklahoma Business Ethics Consortium. In this appointment, he focuses time and attention to promoting business ethics to college students at campuses across Oklahoma. He has served as both a Regional and National IEB Ethics Competition judge the past five years and the National 2 Year College competition the past three years since its inauguration. He also served as key speaker and judge at the Arkansas Regional High School Ethics Bowl in January, 2015.

Prior to his current role at ONE Gas, Schoonover led the Oklahoma Natural Gas’ Engineering Services and Pipeline Systems group, an internal support group for field operations and engineering. The group consists largely of professional and technical employees, many who serve as business analysts and project managers for technical initiatives across the company.

He has a strong business acumen stemming from more than 20 years of business management, administration, and small business ownership. He has managed large technical teams of employees in the Information Technology sector for Fortune 200 and Fortune 600 companies including budgets ranging from $1 to $12 million in size.

Schoonover worked at a large community college with more than 26,000 students in Austin, TX from 1987 to 1996. He managed student records technology and assisted with student advising for the health sciences division. As a working adult student himself, Schoonover appreciated the dedication that each student demonstrated to be successful. He holds a special appreciation for adult students and the sacrifices that most have to make in order to attain a higher education. He believes in and supports lifelong learning and is proud that he has mentored as many as 8 of his own employees to obtain their degrees in the past few years.

He holds an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration as well as a Bachelor of Liberal Studies in Business Management, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Additionally, he holds two minor degrees – one in Human Resources Management and the other in History studies. He is a member of the International Institute of Business Analysis, the Project Management Institute, and the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics.
