MICHELE MARY SMITH

Two-time USA Softball Olympic Gold-medalist Michele Smith led Team USA to back-to-back gold medals in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
She also was a member of the 1998 U.S. team that captured a gold medal in the Canada Cup and the Pan American Games.
In addition, she was an integral member of the U.S. team that won the 2002 International Softball Federation World Championship.

USA Softball/American Softball Association Highlights:
1996
Gold Medalist of the 1996 Olympic Softball Team, Atlanta, Georgia. Michele went 2-0 with 1.50 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 14 innings. At the plate, she hit .211 (4 for 19, with a double) with two RBIs and 3 runs scored.
1998
Gold Medal at South Pacific Classic, Christchurch, New Zealand. Posted a 1-1 record with a 1.87 ERA and 25 strikeouts. Smith hit .267 (4 for 15) and scored one run.
Gold Medal at World Championships, Fuji, Japan. She went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 36 strikeouts. She hit .444 (8 for 18) with three home runs, 8 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
2000
Gold Medal 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Finished tournament with 0.00 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 27.2 innings.
