Students Awarded Scholarships from World-Class Leadership Program with Ret. General Tommy Franks

For Immediate Release: July 25, 2016

A dozen students were awarded scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 from the Four Star Leadership program with General Tommy Franks. Four Star Leadership is a free summer leadership program that provides students with both classroom and one-on-one experiences with respected leaders. Only 70 students worldwide were selected to participate in the 2016 Four Star Leadership program, which was held July 9-15 in Hobart, Oklahoma.

Students were challenged with practical leadership and ethical scenarios and then asked to address them individually in a persuasive speech and writing competition as well as collaboratively in an Ethics Bowl competition. Attendees had an opportunity to earn more than $15,000 in scholarships as well as gain internships and receive letters of recommendation.

Students earned scholarships by demonstrating an understanding of leadership principles and outstanding presentations.

Franks. “In an effort to further support the pursuit of education and exploration of career paths, we are pleased to award a dozen scholarships to students who placed in this year’s competition.”

During the program, students were hosted by Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond, Oklahoma, and traveled on various excursions across the state where they met, and engaged with, national and international leaders including elected officials, dignitaries and star athletes.

Program curriculum is designed around the four core principles that lead Gen. Tommy Franks through his 38-year military career: character, common vision, communication and caring.
